STUDENT INTERIM PROGRAM
Overview:
The interim program is designed for students who have successfully completed their 12-month course of study at a Teen Challenge center and are “ in between”. It affords the graduate an opportunity to still live and labor in a protected environment yet slowly transition into the “world.”
Here the graduate is offered a 3 (month) interim opportunity and assigned to a particular department. Upon successful completion, the graduate may be offered room & board privileges so that he or she can pursue employment outside Life Challenge yet remain under the partial care and protection of the ministry.
Description:
The interim is put in a vocational capacity in one of the various departments of the ministry. As such, he or she is expected to serve the body as needed in the spirit of Christ. The overall purpose is to help the interim further grow in responsibility and begin to develop his or her work ethic. The interim will be permitted to work outside the ministry 1(one) day a week during his / her first three month commitment.
Qualifications:
The interim program is by invitation only. The interim must commit to a three (3) month period of service. He or she is expected to abide by godly standards of living and thus demonstrate the character of Christ. To that end, the interim may be invited to stay an additional three (3) month period to pursue full-time employment. As such, the interim would then move to the Stevenson Building and begin paying room & board. Upon being gainfully employed, the interim will be expected to do the following: 1) Turn paycheck stubs into Department Supervisor for photocopy. 2) Deposit paycheck into interim account. 3) Tithe each paycheck to Life Challenge during interim residency. Serving as a student interim is “at the will” of Life Challenge. The opportunity may be terminated at any time for any reason. In such case, it will be expected that the interim leave the premises within a 24-hour period.
The student interim is a non-paid position. In keeping with the goal of independent living, the interim will be expected to buy his or her personal toiletries, paper products, food, furniture, etc. The interim will be expected to keep their living quarters clean ( bed made, floor vacuumed, furniture polished, clothing off the floor).
Those who successfully complete the student interim program will be given one free month room & board at the conclusion of their 3-month commitment.
